DELSU Matriculates 9,498 Students For 2025/2026 Session, As VC Assures Matriculants Of University’s Preparedness To Give Them Best Training

Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka on Saturday, February 14, 2026, matriculated 9,498 students.
In his speech during the ceremony which took place at the Convocation Arena of the University, Vice Chancellor of DELSU, Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, congratulated the matriculants for scaling the hurdles of gaining admission into the University.
Professor Asagba further informed the students that of the tens of thousands applicants who applied for DELSU admission, only a handful of 9,498 succeeded who are they.
He then warned the matriculants to shun all forms of social vices which are against their matriculation oath. He enjoined the students to comport themselves very well, observe rules and regulations of the University and refrain from activities which are inimical to the growth of intellectualism, discipline and lawfulness.
Professor Asagba in conclusion assured the matriculating students that the University has both human and material resources to give them the best training in their various disciplines and therefore wished them a successful academic sojourn in DELSU.
Earlier in her speech, the Registrar of the University, Mrs Rufina Ufiofio, told the matriculants to count themselves fortunate as they were the few who succeeded in the rigorous admission process of the University.

She also told them what the University expects of them as they have become students of the University.
Mrs Ufiofio thereafter administered the matriculation oath on the matriculating students.
The matriculation ceremony also held at the Oleh Campus of DELSU.
The matriculation ceremony was the culmination of series of events which included orientation programme earlier organised for the new students.
Dignitaries present at the matriculation ceremony included DELSU Vice Chancellor, Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Edmund Aviedo Atakpo, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Hilary Ijeoma Owamah, Provost of Oleh Campus, Professor Austine Atonuje, the University Registrar, Mrs Rufina Ufuoma Ufiofio, the University Bursar, Mrs Otimeyin Ekakitie-Omajuwa, the University Librarian, Dr Josephine Eruterio Onohwakpor, Dean of Students Affairs, Professor Ignatius Njoseh, Deputy Dean of Students Affairs, Dr Israel Odede, Deputy Registrar, Students Affairs, Mrs Christy Egbowawa, DELSU Admissions Officer, Miss Blessing Omogbiya; Director, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s (JAMB) Delta State, Mrs Regina Robinson who was represented by Mrs Monica Okonji, members of the University Senate, members of the University Congregation, the University Public Relations Officer, Mr Henry Eseka, 32nd Executives of the DELSU Students Union Government (SUG), the matriculating students and others.
