The Vice Chancellor of the University of Delta, Agbor (UNIDEL), Prof. Stella Chiemeke, has received another major honour, further consolidating her growing profile in academic leadership.
The latest recognition came from National Trust Newspaper in partnership with Media Advocacy for Sustainable Development, which conferred on her the Meritorious Icon Award.
Presenting the award during a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor’s office on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the Editor of National Trust Newspaper, Mr. Chimezie Joseph Anigbogu, said the decision followed an independent assessment by the organisation’s research and feasibility team.
He said Prof. Chiemeke was nominated for her “human commitment to strengthening academic excellence at a young university,” citing what he described as UNIDEL’s visible progress under her leadership.
He also commended her track record of promoting professionalism and ethical standards, noting that her “farsighted leadership continues to inspire excellence and service to humanity.”
