By Daniel Dafe
The Professor Samuel Asagba-led management has congratulated Christian faithful in the Delta State University on the successful completion of the Lenten season, just as he wished them “a blessed and joyous Easter celebration.”
This was contained in an official bulletin released on Thursday by the institution.
It reads in part: “On behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, Staff and Students, the Vice-Chancellor congratulates all Christian faithful in the University Community on the successful completion of the Lenten season and wishes them a blessed and joyous Easter celebration.”
Furthermore, Professor Asagba urged them to reflect on the virtues of sacrifice, love, and selflessness exemplified by Jesus Christ.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor described the 40-day Lenten period as a time of spiritual renewal, discipline, and devotion.
He further called on Christians to imbibe the lessons of Easter by promoting peace, unity, and tolerance within the university community and the wider society.
Professor Asagba noted that the resurrection of Christ symbolizes hope, victory, and new beginnings, encouraging Nigerians to remain steadfast and optimistic despite prevailing challenges.
He wished all Christians a joyful and peaceful Easter celebration.
According to the said bulletin, in line with the declaration of Friday, 3rd April, and Monday, 6th April, 2026, by the Federal Government as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration, Prof. Asagba, approved same dates as public holidays for all staff.
The institution hinted that “staff on essential duties are to remain at their duty posts,” adding “normal University activities will resume on Tuesday, 7th April, 2026.”
