Governor Soludo Appoints Uwaeme, Okoye, Okeke As Heads Of Anambra Health Institutions

Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has approved the appointment of Dr. Ezeaka Augustine Uwaeme, Dr. Obianuju Chinelo Okoye, and Dr. Hillary Nkem Okeke as heads of key health institutions in the state.

According to a press statement issued on Thursday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Christian Aburime, Dr. Uwaeme was appointed as Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), while Dr. Okoye will serve as Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency. Dr. Okeke was named Executive Director of the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency.

The statement described Dr. Uwaeme as a seasoned medical practitioner with over 22 years of experience in Medicine and Surgery, noting that he has built strong expertise in clinical practice and management. His academic and professional training spans institutions including Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, the Jefferson Ultrasound Radiology and Education Institute, the Institute of Ultrasound Training in New Delhi, the National Post-Graduate Medical College of Nigeria, and the University of Ilorin.

Dr. Okoye was also described as an experienced medical practitioner with over 20 years of integrated experience across hospitals and the public health sector. She holds an MBBS degree from Ebonyi State University, a Master’s degree in Public Health, and a Diploma in Family Medicine from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. She has also attended several conferences and presented academic papers.

For Dr. Okeke, the statement highlighted his achievements as an award-winning medical expert and lecturer with strong research interests in epidemiology, global health management, and community and social care management. He is an MBBS graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University and also holds a Master’s degree in Public Health.

The state government expressed confidence that the appointments would strengthen healthcare delivery across Anambra, stating that the trio’s diverse expertise and rich clinical experience would help improve the quality of health services in the state.
