DELSU Senate Elects Representatives To Governing Council, Other Statutory Bodies
The Senate of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has elected representatives into the University’s Governing Council, the University’s Admission Board and the Joint Council/Senate Committee on Honorary Degree.
The elections took place during the University’s Senate 218th regular meeting which held on Friday, 29th May, 2026 at the Senate Chambers.
In his speech before the elections, Vice Chancellor and Chairman of Senate, Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, informed Senate that various vacancies were available to be filled through elections.
Professor Asagba as Chairman of Senate in conjunction with the University Registrar and Secretary to Senate, Mrs Rufina Ufiofio, oversaw the conduct of the elections.

After the elections, the following emerged as Representatives of Senate into the vacant positions: Professor Victor Ehiedu emerged as Senate Representative to the University Admissions Board (UAB); while Professor (Reverend Father) Jude Obiunu, Professor Peter Ottuh, Professor (Mrs) Patience Agbaire, Professor Joshua Apanapudor, Professor (Mrs.) Romina Asiyai, as well as Professor Sunny Ojobor, emerged as the six Senate Representatives to the Joint Council/Senate Committee on Honorary Degree. Professor Benjamin Okpevra and Professor Nelson Akpotu emerged as Senate Representatives to the University’s Governing Council.
In his speech after the elections Professor Asagba, congratulated all the elected Representatives for their emergence and challenged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating unwavering dedication to their new assignments.
The 218th Regular Senate meeting was well attended by members of the University Senate.
