Omo-Agege Raises Alarm Over Attack On NDC Campaign Venue In Uvwie, Alleges Threat To Life
Uvwie, Delta State — August 21, 2026: Former Deputy President of the 9th Senate and NDC Senatorial Candidate for Delta Central, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has raised the alarm over an alleged attack on the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign venue in Uvwie, describing the incident as “state terrorism” and alleging threats to his life.
Omo-Agege, in a statement issued on Friday, alleged that over 50 armed men led by Mr. Emmanuel Erube stormed the venue of an NDC campaign meeting in Uvwie at about 5:30am.
He alleged that the men tore down canopies and destroyed campaign materials prepared for the meeting.
According to him, the attackers also threatened to kill him and his Uvwie Campaign Coordinator, Olorogun Dr. Esere Ejifoma Atumu, if he appeared in Uvwie for the event.
Omo-Agege said the incident was not random but a planned attack aimed at intimidating the NDC and its supporters in Delta State.
Describing the incident as “an act of state terrorism,” he alleged that the attack was carried out by political operatives linked to the state government.
He further alleged that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori had, on previous occasions, threatened his life, claiming that the Governor had allegedly told several people privately that he would have him killed.
Omo-Agege said he was taking the alleged threats seriously and held Governor Oborevwori “directly responsible and culpable” for the attack.

He called on the Inspector General of Police and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to arrest Mr. Emmanuel Erube and the other alleged attackers, investigate the alleged source of their funding and prosecute those found culpable.
The NDC candidate also demanded 24-hour armed protection from the Delta State Commissioner of Police for himself, Dr. Atumu, NDC campaign teams and supporters across the state.
He further called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), United States Embassy, European Union, African Union and civil society organisations to take note of the alleged escalation and deploy observers and human rights monitors to Delta State.
Omo-Agege urged the people of Uvwie and Delta State not to be intimidated by the incident, insisting that the NDC would not be silenced.
He said the struggle for what he described as a “New Delta” would continue, while warning against political violence ahead of the elections.
The allegations made by Omo-Agege could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report.
