BEDC Staff Electrocuted In Abraka

Tragedy struck in Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State as an official of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) was electrocuted.
The incident which occurred in the popular Igbo Quarters on Monday, April 27, 2020, threw residents of the area to mourning mood.
According to eye witnesses, the deceased identified as Ovie Obodo was working on a high tension wire when the wire sparked and electrocuted him after power was restored from source at Amukpe in Sapele Local Government Area.
Oasis Magazine (OM) gathered that the Branch Manager, Joshua Idoghor was arrested and detained by the police in Abraka over negligence of his staff for failing to switch off the transformer while carrying out a sensitive task that eventually led to the death of Obodo.
At the time of filing this report, BEDC staff members and family members of the deceased were in mourning mood at the premises of the Government Hospital, Abraka as the corpse laid lifeless awaiting procedures to be followed to have the corpse deposited in a morgue in town.
