COVID-19 Lockdown: Celebrate Easter Sunday From Your Homes, Okowa Tells Christians
-As Delta Records Third Coronavirus Case
By Daniel Dafe
As Christians all over the world celebrate Easter Sunday tomorrow, April 12, 2020, in commemoration of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ over 2000 years ago, churches in Delta State have been directed not to congregate, but observe the 14-day lockdown directive by the state government to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in the state.
The Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, disclosed this via a Facebook post on Saturday evening.
This directive came after reports made the round that the lockdown exercise was suspended for Christians to be able to attend church services in various locations across the state.
According to him, the third case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in the state, saying that “the patient, a male, was diagnosed today in Asaba and is currently being managed by healthcare professionals in one of the isolation centers.”
He added: “The patient is currently in a good state and responding to treatment; and we have already begun to track all those that have had contact with him.”
Speaking further, he said the confirmation of this third case further reinforces the call for social distancing and a lockdown.
While commending Deltans for the cooperation over the past few days, he promised to continue to make fresh updates on any new developments available.
