Urhobo Progress: UPU Youthwing President Visits Okagbare, Ogboru, Police Area Commander

A vibrant Urhobo youth leader, Comrade Ochuko Okagbare and Legislative Aide to Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the Deputy Senate President of Nigeria, has hosted the Youthwing President of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Comrade Efemena Umukoro.

The visit, yesterday, 7th May, 2020, was done to felicitate with the family of Okagbare over the safe delivery of a male child by his wife.

The UPU youthwing’s president was accompanied by some Urhobo youths to the metropolitan city of Ughelli during the said visit.

Meanwhile, Comrade Umukoro also visited Comrade Ibebe Akpobome Rufus, DG, YEMA.

Umukoro commended the YEMA boss for his love and support for the Urhobo people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Comr. Ibebe thanked the youth president for his extraordinary drive in changing the narrative in UPU by sharing palliatives to Urhobo kingdoms with his personal funds. 

Ibebe went further to advise the president to remain focused and refuse to be distracted by people with opposite views, saying that his good work would soon buy over all his enemies.

Also visited was Comr Noble Ogboru in Warri, younger brother to the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 elections, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru.

Umukoro who gave his scorecard within 100 days in office, vowed to continue to pursue his ambition to add value to Urhobo youths.

Comrade Ogboru who was full of praises for the youth president, promised to contribute his own quota to the success of his administration.

According to sources, the visits were done to strengthen and leverage on existing cordial relationships in order to have a good working relationship with relevant Urhobo youths stakeholders in order to represent Urhobo youths well so their interests are well protected by way of giving them not just a voice but a voice to trust .

In another development, as part of interactive sessions with security stakeholders in Urhobo land, Urhobo youths led by Comrade Umukoro have visited the Police Area Commander, Ughelli, ACP Lawal Shinkafi.

This visit was geared towards discussing security issues with the police officer to ensure that the rights of Urhobo youths are duly respected in his jurisdiction.

In his response, the Area Commander assured the president that Urhobo youths will be protected under his watch and equally sought for cooperation from stakeholders in intelligent gathering, saying that security is the collective effort of everyone.

From the ACP’s office, the team visited the Coordinator, Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), Ughelli axis, SP Collins to resolve some issues which were eventually settled amicably.
