Sunday Ogune: My father Died At 73, Not 76, Says Matthew
By Matthew Ogune, Abuja
Ogune Ugherakpoteni Matthew, a son to late Chief Sunday Ogune has debunked claims that his father died at 76.
Oasis Magazine earlier reported that the deceased died at 76 after an interview with a member of the family, but Matthew in a statement said his father actually died at 73.
Wondering while the family member who granted the interview did not make proper consultation before speaking, he appealed to the publisher of the media outfit to use his good office to set the record straight.
He however noted that the family was not at media war with each other and enjoined the general public to be wary of mischief makers in the society.
Statement reads in part: “My attention has been drawn to a publication dated 12th June 2020 by the Oasis Magazine (OM) with the caption “Popular Chief In Oruarivie Abraka Kingdom, Sunday Ogune Dies At 76.
“While it is pertinent to inform the general public that our father, Late Chief Sunday Ogune died at 73 and not 76, it is also important to state that the family of the deceased are not at media war with each other but just to set the record straight and feed the people of Abraka with correct information concerning our late dad.
“I normally do not respond to publication but series of calls from respected men and women who knew our late father to question the age that has been awarded to our father in the report has pushed me to set the record straight.
“While I appeal to the Publisher of Oasis Magazine (OM) to use his good office to set the record straight, I wonder why the said family member could not make proper consultation before granting any interview.”
