Okpanam Monarch, Community Get Commendation For Accommodating Spirit.

The need for all individuals in the society irrespective of their  tribal and religious leanings to consider their area of residence as their home and contribute meaningfully in the socio-economic development of such places for the interest of mutual and harmonious integration has been stressed.

The Asiwaju of Yoruba Community in Okpanam, Chief (Dr) Teslim Abojede stated this in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State during his Ojude-Isese/new yam festival celebration which was attended by the traditional ruler of Okpanam Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, HRM, Chief (Dr) Michael Mbanefo Ogbolu, the Ugoani of Okpanam and other prominent chiefs including Chief (Dr) Stephen Okonta among others.

Chief (Dr) Abojede, however, lauded the Okpanam monarch for his exemplary leadership and the people of the kingdom for their peaceful dispositions, adding that the traditional ruler had continued to unite the community for the overall good of the people.

The Asiwaju of Yoruba Community, who underscored the imperativenes of Isese and new yam festival celebration, said that new yam festival signified a time to rejoice and merry together as a people.

While saying that Okpanam Community was very accommodating in all ramifications to strangers, Chief (Dr) Abojede pledged that the Yorubas living in the community would always sustain their good behavioral attitudes and contribute their quota in moving Okpanam forward.

He urged his kinsmen in the community to desist from any acts capable of portraying the tribe in a negative light and jeopardising their individual and collective reputation, adding that they should abstain from crime and embrace things that would add value to their lives and the society at large.

Speaking in their separate remarks, some of his kinsmen including Chief Gabriel Omodunbi, the Delta State  Chairman of Yoruba Youth Vanguard, Mr. Abdulfatai Isha and Mr. Azeez Tajudeen described Chief Abojede as the leader of the Yorubas in the area, noting that he had been giving them a sense of belonging at all times.

They said that Chief (Dr) Abojede was an epitome of peace and unity for the Yorubas in the area, stressing that the people of Okpanam Kingdom Please, ” stressing that the people of Okpanam Kingdom were peace loving.”
