Kidnappers Of DELSU Lecturer’s Wife Demand N10M Ransom

Kidnappers of the wife of a lecturer in Delta State University, Dr. Sunny Ojobor, have demanded the sum of Ten Million Naira as ransom to secure the release of their victim, Mrs. Ojobor, who was kidnapped on Monday evening in Abraka.

Dr. Ojobor disclosed this during a phone conversation with Oasis Magazine (OM), saying “yes they have called, and they where asking for money, yes they called an amount, they where saying 10 million.”

Asked if the kidnappers sounded Fulani, he said: “No no no, these are our boys. Their English might not be too sound, but they are enlightened.”

He added: “It is very annoying that we have gotten to this place in Nigeria that somebody that is doing is her respective business, managing her life you will go and kidnap her because you are looking for money.”

Meanwhile, the police in the state have swung into action to secure the release of the victim.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, they are doing everything to stem the tide in Abraka.

Recall that several kidnap cases and car snatching have occurred in the university town.

She added: “There is intensive surveillance and patrolling right now in the community and currently we are more into intelligence-led policing and so what we need from the public is information. If you see anything suspicious just let the police know and over time the public has been encouraged to have the number of their DPOs or patrol vans passing by. You do not wait until there is a problem before you now start looking for numbers to call.

“The earlier we get information the better.”

When asked if the beef up of security was an Abraka arrangement only, she said “its for all over the state,” saying that its an arrangement to tackle crime and criminality all over the federation, not just the state.
