Rivers: Sacked 23 APC Elected Local Government Chairmen To Refile Case After Court Struck Out Matter Due To Improper Notice Of Appeal
The Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt has struck out the appeal of 22 sacked Local Government Council Chairmen elected in 2015 against Rivers State Government, Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission RSIEC and others.
The lead judge, JUSTICE TAN YUSUF-HASSAN in her ruling said there was no proper notice of appeal found in the record of the court as such, the case can not be heard and struck out the case.
Speaking to journalists outside the courtroom, correspondent reports that Counsel to the third and forth respondents which is Rivers State Government and Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission RSIEC, ECHESONA ETIABA spoke to journalists on the matter .
Also speaking Counsel to the appellant MIKE WODI holding brief for SEBASTINE HON, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, expressed dismay over the judgement, stating that they would get back to their client on the next line of action.

RECALL that twenty-two Local Government Council Chairmen elected in 2015 under ROTIMI AMAECHI administration were removed from office one month in office by Governor NYESOM WIKE during his first tenure in office which made the affected persons to approach the court for alleged illegal removal.
