Urhobo youths under the aegis of Urhobo Progress Union (Youth Wing) under the leadership of Comr. Ovie Ebireri on Monday visited the Vice Chancellor, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Professor Andy Egwunyenga, over the recent hike in school fees in the institution.

While addressing the school management, Ebireri expressed dissatisfaction over the hike of school fees, noting that the hike is outrageous.

Continuing, he said that there are students who could hardly pay the old fees and with the hike in the present fees, many students may not be able to cope.

Furthermore, demands presented to the VC by Hon. Ochuko Okagbare on behalf of the union was for the school fees to be reduced to accommodate the interest of the students and that of the management.

According to one of the youth leaders at the meeting, the Vice Chancellor in his response while commending UPU Youth wing delegation and Urhobo Youth Leaders for opening the doors of dialogue with the University management, assured the delegation that the fees will be reviewed to suite both the students and the management when next the management of the institution meets.

The meeting between the management of the institution and Leaders of Urhobo youths may have given students of the institution hope that things will go in their favour.

A statement by the youth body called on DELSU students to rest assured that a fair deal will happen in no distance time.
