Following the recent attack of a teacher in Onicha Ugbo Mixed Secondary School in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State by a group of suspected cult members, the principal of the school, Mrs Magdalene Okonkwo, has appealed to the state government (DTSG) to beef up security in the school premises.

The principal, who stated this while speaking to newsmen in her office, narrated that the suspected cultists came into the school premises and attacked the teacher, Mr. Fidelis Okonma, at the school playground, while the students were playing football, adding that the injured teacher was currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital within the locality.

Mrs Okonkwo opined that the suspected cultists had a free entry into the school because there was no security guard in the school, adding that she had earlier, upon assumption of duty, barely a month ago, drew the attention of the relevant authorities to provide security in the school.

The principal, however, stated that she had brought sanity and discipline to bear among the students, adding that the rate of lateness to school among the students had reduced appreciatively.

She similarly appealed to the state government to wade into the unabated encroachment of the school premises by the community with a view to nipping the menace in the bud permanently.
