DTSG Demolishes Illegal Structure In Asaba

Delta State Government (DTSG) through the Commissioner for Lands and surveys, Barr. (Mrs) Kate Onianwa, has ordered the demolition of an illegal structure in Asaba, the state capital.

The commissioner with some of the officials of the Department of Town Planners in the ministry embarked on the demolition exercise at Chiagozie Street, off the DLA Road in the capital city.

Onianwa frowned at the development of erecting or building illegal structures, adding that such unlawful individuals embarking on the unwholesome act were bent at frustrating the efforts of the state government.

”Even on the drainage and access roads ? The occupants of this area have been calling us on this development and we have to rush down here for this demolition. Government will not allow any unlawful individual to cause pains and sufferings to our people. We are here to get things done right,” she added.

She also stated that the demolition would serve as a deterrent to others, adding that she would continue to pull down such illegal structures as long as people refused to do the right thing according to the law.

Onianwa disclosed that the access road the developers were trying to block served as an alternative route to commuters whenever there was a heavy traffic on the DLA Road in the area.

The commissioner also revealed that her ministry had earlier directed stoppage of work at the site and wondered why the unlawful developers should continue work after her officials had left the site.

She called on the residents of the area to always notify her ministry when such unpatriotic act happened again to enable the state government to serve them better.
