Ogo Clarkson: Recruit Good Players Now And Don’t Blame Match Officials Later

Says No Hiding Place For Hoodlums As Journalist Will Show No Mercy

Award winning Nigeria journalist, Ogo Clarkson has advised coaches and club handlers to take their time to recruit the best legs ahead of the Nigeria National League, NNL, that is billed to kickoff on Friday, February 11, across Nigeria to avoid name calling.

The CEO of a reliable social media sports platform, Topsportsafrik, warned that journalists will not spare any coach or hoodlum who spearheads any form of unsportsmanlike ideas and deeds.

“Already I have noticed some coaches recruiting players based on sentiment instead of merit because they may have their personal differences with some players forgetting that their job as a coach is not personal.”

While commending the effort of journalists and the league organisers, Ogo Clarkson urged journalists not to spare anybody in their reportage be it their colleagues who are media manager to clubs involved in inciting violence in the unity game.

“When some of our coaches failed to recruit good players or give young players chance because of their tribalistic or other form of sentimentalism,, they will be looking for match officials who will aid them or accuse referees of bias officiating thereby inciting fans to beat up match officials and visiting teams.”

“The league organisers need to emulate what they see in other developed leagues overseas by providing adequate security and make arrest when need be”.

The well traveled journalist also appealed to the league body to pay match officials their indemnities as at when due to enable the referees to resist bribery and to officiate games with fairness and clear conscience.
