Delta Central Poll: Amori Political Front Vows To Challenge Outcome In Court

Coordinator, Amori Political Front (APF) ín Delta Central senatorial district, Olorogun Godwin Obire from Agbarho Orhokpokpo and members of his group, have rejected the outcome of the senatorial election, just as they vowed to challenge it in court.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had returned Ede Dafinone of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as winner and senator-elect.

Obire alleged that chief Ighoyota Amori won the election and would explore all legal means to prove it in court, saying “the processes and outcome of the Delta central senatorial election were grossly flawed in every aspect and as such, must be challenged.”

Obire, who spoke at a briefing in Agbarho, enjoined his supporters, especially party members, not to despair because PDP leadership and Ighoyota Amori had taken up the challenge posed by Ovie Omo Agege and Senator-elect, Ede Dafinone, to mount a legal challenge.

He said: “Let me reiterate and assure my good people of “Urhobo nation” that we will follow all available legal and peaceful procedures to reclaim our mandate.”

Obire, insisted that on the issue of senatorial elections, Amori remained committed and determined not to let down Urhobo nation who invested their time and votes in his candidature.

He described the process leading up to the declaration of Ede Dafinone as winner and Senator-elect by the INEC as flawed.

In his words, “what transpired under the current INEC leadership fell short of the minimum standard of elections anywhere in the world.”

“I will not allow the collective aspirations and interests of the Urhobo people to be subverted. I will be the last person to allow the people of Delta central to be short-changed in any way by enemies of the Urhobo nation.

“Having gone into partnership and agreement with the people to chart a new course for the Delta central, it is unacceptable to allow the so-called result of the senatorial election to stand,” he added.

Obire urged Ighoyota Amori supporters to remain steadfast, resilient and unshaken, assuring them that they would reclaim the mandate.
