By Daniel Dafe
Chairman, Social Democratic Party, Delta North Senatorial District, Hon. Okaegwu Isioma Peter, has resigned his membership of the party.
This follows the resignation of the party’s state chairman, Ambassador Oke Idawene.
In a letter to the state chairman of the party, through the Ward Chairman, Akumazi Ward 7, Ika North East Local Government Area, the party chieftain said that his decision to resign is purely on personal ground, after due consideration and consultations with his political family and mentor.
In an earlier statement made available to Oasis Magazine, Peter, said: “The time has come for me to leave Social Democratic Party (SDP) and move on with my political ambition elsewhere,” adding: “it’s obvious that I for one can no longer tolerate the unbearable attitude of Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi who has come to destroy SDP.”

Meanwhile, Chairman of the party in Isoko North Local Government Area, Prophet Moses Atawheke, has also resigned his membership of the party.
Stating this in a letter on Saturday to the Chairman of Ward 4, Atawheke said that he took the decision as a result of the “gross misconduct of the gubernatorial candidate of the party, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi.”
Also, the state Assistant Financial Secretary of the party and Delta State House of Assembly candidate of the party in Burutu Local Government Area, Eniye Matthew Sawacha, has also dumped the party.
This was contained in a letter to the Ward Chairman of the party in Ogbolobiri Ward 9, dated May 3, 2023, where he also stated that his decision was on personal ground.
