Team Nigeria Dominate On Day 1 Of 2024 Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament In Abuja
Team Nigeria won 9 gold, 6 Silver and 2 Bronze medals ahead of São Tomé and Principe on 1 Gold and 3 Silver on day one of the 1st African Admiral Porbeni Boat Championship in Abuja.
The Confederation of Africa Canoe-rated Championship ongoing at Jabi Boat Club has 45 athletes from Nigeria, Senegal, São Tomé & Principe, Togo and Ghana competing for honours in Canoe, Kayak, Para-Canoe and Para-Kayak Categories.

President, Confederation of Africa Canoe (CAC), Joao Manuel Da Costa Alegre, President, Nigeria Rowing, Canoe and Sailing Federation Admiral Festus Porbeni who also doubles as Vice President CAC), ICF officials are in the country as Nigeria intensifies plans to be the hub of the sport in Sub-Sahara Africa. The Championship is a prelude to one of the main Olympics Qualifying Tournament in November as Team Nigeria targets improved representation and podium finishes at the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games next summer in France.
The championship split into morning and evening sessions at Jabi Lake Abuja continues on Saturday and ends on Sunday.
