Gabriel, who did not disclose his present location, said on the 16th of November 2023, where he resides in Sapele, his friend who is his gay lover came to visit. After spending time there, he chose to leave. He saw him off, and gave him a good cheeky peck on his cheeks. On returning, he said he saw some people running towards him. His initial thought was that they were people coming from the field or passing by. It was when the crowd grew larger and were shouting gay! Gay!! Gay!! in unison, he knew there was a big problem. There were attacks from all sides, with them chanting ‘you don’t have a place here,’ ‘gay people we don’t want that.’

He disclosed that he was wounded and was saved by a running car that came, and before they could pursue him, he had already escaped. Luckily for him, a cyclist passing by saw him bleeding, and volunteered to help him. He asked him what happened and where he was going to. He narrated his ordeal to the cyclist, and asked him if he could help him from the Okpe road area he was to Mosogar, where his sister resides. “It was when he got to his sister’s home that thr sister called her friend who was a nurse to come treat him at home. Injections and drugs were administered to him for a period of two weeks, after which he went back to my base at Sapele.

On the 1st of December, 2023, his gay partner came for another visit and to check on how he was faring and recuperating. After they finished talking, and watching film, they had fun.
Okunola said while his partner was using the restroom, he heard shouts outside again.

He asserted that a large crowd had gathered outside his house and he didn’t even know how they knew he was around again. So when he peeped through the window, he saw a lot of guys outside with cutlass and bottles. He was frightened and did not know what to do. He swiftly ran to his gay lover, telling him that they needed to escape. He tried to peep through the kitchen exit, and saw there were fewer people in the front of the apartment. He had to escape alone, leaving his partner behind because he was adamant and continued taking his bath.

According to him, he ran again to his sister’s place where she called the same female nurse to give him medical care, because he was badly injured. After a week, he begged his sister to get his certificate and other valuables from his house in Sapele.

On reaching there, she greeted his neighbor and asked about their welfare. They said fine, so she pretended to ask about him. His neighbor, Mr Godwin, told his sister that something tragic happened in his apartment; that a gay lover was with him. That after he escaped from being lynched, his gay partner was beaten almost to death. So, it was the policemen who came to his rescue. After some hours, they said he could not survive it and he died.
