PRESS STATEMENT

18th of March, 2024.

The Leadership of the National Association of Delta State Students engaged the commissioner of police over report of police harassment of students in Ogwashi-Uku, to register the displeasure of the Association over the harassment and extortion of a member of their National executive and two other students of Delta state Polytechnic, Ogwashi-uku and to as well forestall further cases of harassment of students.

The Commissioner of Police receiving the report quickly directed the DCA to investigate the issue. Immediately, the DCA put a call across to the OC in charge of the Ibusa police station to get to the root of the matter. On getting to the Ibusa police station, the OC apologized, explained in detail and did a refund of #180,000 back to the students after investigations.

We wish to use this medium to appreciate the Commissioner of Police for his timely intervention and concern towards the matter while we encourage the students to continue to be law abiding.
