Two kidnap victims residing in Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Ajikola Segun and Honesty, on Friday regained their freedom from Orogun bush where suspected kidnappers who stormed their hostel on Thursday night during a kidnap operation had taken them to.

Oasis Magazine gathered that on Friday a combined team of hunters and vigilantes had stormed the said bush in search of the victims when they had an exchange of gunfire with the suspects.

Two of the five kidnappers who the victims said were Funali.herdsmen lost their lives while other members of the gang fled.

Oasis Magazine learnt that one of the two deceased criminals died at the hospital after he was rushed there from the Abraka Police Division after he sustained bullet wounds.

Although more details on the development were yet to be unraveled, from a video circulating online, the kidnappers who were five in number, are said to have stormed the hostel on Thursday night, abducted three trekked through Lucas Street and headed for the bush.

said: “Two of us were outside when they came. They first abducted us. Went inside, broke the glasses of some window and abducted a lady.”

On her part, Honesty said one of the kidnappers was gunned down and it was when another gang member went to see what was happening that he was also shot at.

“We had to run out of where we were held hostage,” she said.

At the time of this report, no mention was made about the third victim, but a credible security source said “the search/combing of their hideout in the bush is still ongoing.”
