DELSU Law Lecturer, Ayuba Giwa, Is Dead

An Associate Professor and law lecturer at the Delta State University, Abraka (Oleh Campus), Delta State, Nigeria, Barrister (Dr.) Ayuba Giwa, is dead.

Although details about the Senior Lecturer’s death are still sketchy, social media posts by friends, well-wishers and students, suggests that he died on Sunday.

Credible sources from Oleh Campus, however said that he died in Abuja where he went for a medical checkup.

He was a solicitor and advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

A former Chairman, NBA Warri, late Giwa had a doctoral degree in law/jurisprudence and was a former editor of the Nigerian Bar Journal.

Books published by the legal icon include “Equity and Trust in Nigeria” and “Essentials of Lawyering Skills in Africa”.

Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Andy Egwunyenga, reacting to the sad news, said: “I mourn his passing.”

The deceased was buried on Sunday at Okpella in Edo State according to Islamic rites.
