Senator Joel-Onowakpo Breaks Tradition, Shows Gratitude To Delta South Churches

In a departure from the usual political playbook, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, representing Delta South, made a rare gesture of appreciation today, visiting the Isoko North branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Delta South Ministers Prayer Forum (DSMPF).

The event, hosted at Jesus is Lord Mission, saw the Senator express sincere gratitude for the church’s unwavering support during his campaign.

Bishop Sam Oyede, the guest speaker, praised the Senator for his humility, calling him a rare politician who doesn’t forget his supporters after winning elections.

“This is the first time an Isoko politician has returned to thank the church,” Bishop Oyede remarked, drawing parallels to the biblical story of a wealthy man who boasted about his riches instead of showing gratitude to God.

Through his Special Adviser on Religion Matters, Apostle Dr. Liberty Ufuoma Usiayo, Senator Joel-Onowakpo conveyed his appreciation for the church’s prayers and wishes, stating,

“This seed you have sown will grow and replenish you all in manifold. The church will never be abandoned after elections anymore.”

Dr. Usiayo also pledged the Senator’s unalloyed support for the church while emphasizing that requests to the Distinguished Senator should be channeled through him after such has been certified by CAN or DSMPF leadership.

He urged patience while requests are processed.

According to him, Senator Joel-Onowakpo recognized the need for continued support, saying, “the Distinguished Senator humbly asked for your prayers for God’s help, peace, direction, and will to fulfill his electoral promises.”

He also assured the church of their inclusion in the Senator’s programs, particularly in skills acquisition, employment, and administrative services.

The event was marked by prayers of thanksgiving and protection for the Senator, the Church, and political leaders in Isoko North and Delta State.

The high point of the occasion was the thanksgiving led by Dr. Usiayo, further solidifying the Senator’s commitment to his constituents’ spiritual well-being.

Prior to the visitation to Isoko North Church, the Distinguished Senator has paid a thank you visit to the Church at Bomadi, Burutu, Patani, Warri North, Warri South and Warri South-West LGAs of Delta South.

Oleh shall be hosting the last visitation in the series on 30th July, 2024 at God’s Fountain of Life Bible Mission.
