In Katsina State, operatives of the Faskari Division foiled a kidnap attempt along the Funtua-Gusau Highway. Engaging the bandits in a fierce gun battle, the officers forced the criminals to flee with suspected bullet wounds. Ten victims — including two drivers and eight passengers — were rescued unhurt and have since been reunited with their families.

Similarly, in Taraba State, operatives of the State Intelligence Department, in collaboration with local vigilantes, arrested 40-year-old Umar Ahmad, a notorious criminal, at a roadblock in Jalingo. Ahmad later led police to Mayo Faran Village, where two AK-47 rifles, eight magazines, and thirty-nine rounds of live ammunition were recovered — including a rifle previously carted away during a deadly ambush in 2023.

In another development, officers from the Fegge Division in Anambra State intercepted a suspiciously parked shuttle bus along Port Harcourt Road, Onitsha. A search of the vehicle uncovered five pump-action guns, eight live cartridges, and two handcuffs concealed inside a bag of rice.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad arrested 25-year-old Israel Akachukwu at his residence in Nkpor, where two pump-action guns, live cartridges, and other weapons were recovered.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, commended the officers for their professionalism and bravery.
