The renaming reflects a significant expansion in the Ministry’s mandate, now encompassing comprehensive physical planning, spatial coordination, and the continuous regeneration of urban areas across the state.
With this development the Ministry is strategically positioned to drive policies and projects that ensure Delta’s cities and towns are liveable, well-planned, and environmentally sustainable.
The redefined mandate of the Ministry will no doubt catalyze the integration of modern planning techniques, efficient land use strategies, and sustainable infrastructure in both urban and semi-urban areas.
The Honourable Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Renewal, Engr Michael Anoka FNSE, has also been commended for his proactive leadership. Under his stewardship, the Ministry is already charting a path toward smarter cities and modern planning that reflect the realities of modern-day urbanization.
The state government through a circular to all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), has directed full compliance with the approved change in appellation as the Ministry continues to discharge its responsibilities under the renewed mandate.
