Police Uncover Baby Factory Disguised As Hospital
Shock and outrage erupted in Abia State after operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) uncovered a suspected baby factory operating under the guise of a maternity home.
According to a report by Vanguard (July 1, 2025), the illegal facility located in Umunneochi LGA was busted during a joint operation by the NSCDC and local vigilantes. Four pregnant teenagers were rescued from the building, and the owner has been arrested.
A source close to the investigation said, “It looked like a hospital from outside, but what we found inside was horrifying. Young girls were being kept there and made to give birth in secret.”
Authorities suspect that the babies delivered in the facility were being sold to human trafficking rings across the country.

The state commandant of the NSCDC, Paul Igwebuike, confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations are ongoing to identify the full network involved.
