By Ambrose Ologide
Chief Andi Kayoma Osawota, a legal icon has stated that it is unjust and unfair to Ignore the interest of Urhobo ethnic nationality in the creation of states by the National Assembly.
Osawota who is a publisher and multiple author, spoke to our correspondent in a media chat on the premise of the approval of the creation of twelve states by the National Assembly without the consideration of the interest of the Urhobos at his Effurun Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State at the weekend.
The renowned opinion leader argued that the Urhobo areas in Delta State are more qualified than most existing states in Nigeria in terms of population, size and immense contributions to the wealth of Nigeria.
“We have numerous oil wells and the largest gas reserve in West Africa,” he added.

Osawota noted that less qualified ethnic groups whose interest have been taken care of in creation of states are still been considered for the creation of more states by the National Assembly.
Osawota painfully stressed that inspite of these facts, Urhobo is the only major ethnic group whose interest has not been considered in the agitation for creation of states.
“The fact that the Urhobos are peaceful and civilized, does not mean that their interest in the creation of states should be ignored by the National Assembly.” he stated.
Osawota further suggested that the Urhobos in Delta Central, Warri South and Patani should be grouped under a state in whatever name in the creation of more states in Nigeria.
“This is a collective desire of the Urhobos. So our interest should be favourably looked into by the National Assembly. ” Osawota stressed.
