Olu Did Not Confer Any Chieftaincy Title On Me —Onuora

Reacting to stories making the rounds in Warri South, Uvwie Local Government Area and environs, a chieftain of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts, Nze Francis Onuora has denied that he was conferred with a chieftaincy title by the Olu of Warri during the recent courtesy visit by the group to the traditional ruler.

Onuora who is a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Oborevwori on Non-Indigenes Affairs, made the denial in an exclusive media chat with our correspondent in Warri on Tuesday, 28th October, 2025.

He disclosed that the courtesy visit was made on the invitation of the traditional ruler and that as one of the leaders of the group, he accompanied the president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Delta Central and South, Chief Joel Ndidi on the courtesy visit.

Onuora quickly recalled that the Olu of Warri, the Ovie of Agbarha-Warri Kingdom, among other traditional rulers were invited to the recently celebrated Igbo Day in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area and that the Olu of Warri was indisposed to honour the invitation.

“At his request, we were at the palace of the Olu of Warri for the visit,” he added.

In his keynote address, the Olu of Warri promised to confer a chieftaincy title on an lgbo indigene of which to my knowledge he has not done as l speak with you,” he said.

Onuora also made it clear that he never indicated interest as the choice of who to be conferred with the said chieftaincy title neither has he been projected as the choice of Ohaneaze Ndigbo Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts.

“So you can see that the news of me being conferred with a chieftaincy title by the Olu of Warri is not true,” he emphasized.

Onuora however added that he has a cordial relationship with the people of the three Warri indigenous ethnic groups of ltsekiri, Urhobo and Ijaw and that his business is based in Agbarha-Warri Kingdom.

The SSA to Governor Oborevwori on Non Indigenes Affairs wrapped up the media interaction with: “One of my duties as SSA to Governor Oborevwori on Non Indigenes is to establish a cordial relationship with the indigenous ethnic groups in Delta State on behalf of non Indigenes.”
