DTHA Deputy Speaker, Akpowowo, Bags Award

The Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Olorogun) Arthur Akpowowo, Esq., on Sunday, 30th November, 2025, received a Legislative Award of Honour from the Supreme Students’ Senate (Parliamentary Arm) of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka.

The award was presented to the lawmaker at his residence in Eku by the Senate President, Sen. Comr. Ebireri Faith Oghenemarho, and the Senator representing the Faculty of Science, Sen. Edoja Chinedu Nelson.

In her remarks during the presentation, Senate President, Ebireri commended Rt. Hon. Akpowowo for his steadfast legislative advocacy, effective representation of the people of Ethiope East Constituency, and consistent support for student initiatives.

“As a student, I have observed your good works, your impact, and your prompt response to issues affecting your constituency as well as your unwavering support for the activities of students,” she said.

“We appreciate and recognise your contributions, which is why the Senate unanimously decided to honour you with this award.”

In response, the Deputy Speaker expressed profound gratitude to the student lawmakers for the recognition.

Recalling his own days as a student parliamentarian at the university, he urged the current senators to discharge their duties with integrity and place service above personal interest.

“It is heartwarming to see students actively following legislative processes and engaging with the system; I commend your initiative in acknowledging my modest contributions, and I assure you of continued development in line with the MORE Agenda of His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State. Keep up the good work, greater things are ahead.”

The visit is seen as a significant step in strengthening ties between the students’’ legislative body and members of the Delta State House of Assembly, providing an avenue for mentorship and grooming of future leaders.

The award further underscores Rt. Hon. Akpowowo’s growing reputation as a responsive and youth-friendly lawmaker committed to grassroots development and legislative excellence.
