DELSU To Receive N4B, As FG Approves N48B To 12 Selected Universities For Engineering Upgrade

The Federal Government has approved ₦4 billion each for 12 selected universities to rehabilitate engineering and technology workshops, upgrade laboratories, and install modern equipment under the TETFund Special High-Impact Intervention Project.

Inaugurating the Ministerial Monitoring, Evaluation and Implementation Committee, the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, CON, described the intervention as a strategic investment to strengthen practical training, innovation, and global competitiveness in Nigerian universities.

He emphasised that the allocation, dedicated strictly to engineering and technology upgrades, is separate from regular 2026 TETFund disbursements.

Success, he noted, will be measured by functional facilities, improved hands-on competencies, and job-ready graduates.

The Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Sonny Echono, reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to infrastructure renewal in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Beneficiary institutions include the Delta State University, Abraka, Federal University of Technology Minna, Federal University of Technology Akure, Federal University of Technology Owerri, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, and others.

The beneficiary institutions drawn from the six geopolitical zones of the country, consist of federal and state-owned universities.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, strict procurement compliance, and measurable outcomes in delivering the intervention.

Beneficiary institutions to receive N4 billion each include:

1. Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State

2. Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State

3. Federal University of Technology, Babura, Jigawa State

4. Federal University of Technology, Ikot-Abasi, Akwa-Ibom State

5. Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State
6. Nigerian Army University, Biu, Borno State
7. African Aviation and Aerospace University, Abuja

8. Shehu Shagari University of Education, Sokoto State

9. Enugu State University of Medical and Applied Sciences

10. University of Ilesha, Osun.

11. Delta State University

12. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University.
