Ovbije Takes Distribution Of Chairs, Desks To Schools In Ughelli North LGA

The Member representing Urhobo nationality on the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Mr. Sylvester Ovbije, who was ably represented by his media aid, Comrade Jerry Oghenevwede Kekeghe, today Wednesday March 18th, 2026 continued with the distribution of DESOPADEC intervention Chairs and desks to various schools in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The distribution exercise which began in some schools in Ethiope East Local Government Area, last week, continued in Ughelli North Local Government Area today, with Orogun Grammar School having thirty five (35) Chairs and desks.
Comrade Kekeghe, while presenting the items at Orogun Grammar School to the Principal, Mr. Onojeje Eserhu said the distribution was part of DESOPADEC’s intervention in schools in her mandate areas to ensure a good learning environment.
“We started the distribution last Week to schools in Ethiope East. Today is the turn of Ughelli North Local Government Area. We shall distribute to seven schools,” he said.

Responding, the Principal of Orogun Grammar School, Mr. Onojeje Eserhu commended the Member for extending the good gesture to the school and the Board of DESOPADEC, for the commitment in ensuring an even distribution of the chairs and desks to various schools in the area.
At Orogun Primary School, thirty five sets were also distributed to them.
The Head Teacher, Mrs. Utuedo Lydia, who was visibly elated about the development, commended the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and the Board of DESOPADEC for the timely intervention, stating that the school was actually lacking chairs and desks.
“This is highly commendable. We thank the Governor of Delta State and our brother, Mr. Sylvester Ovbije and the entire Board of DESOPADEC for this kind gesture,” she added.
Opherin Primary School also got twenty chairs and desks with the President General of the community, Mr. Ibebe O. Mathew thanking the Board Member and the Governor of Delta State for their magnanimity in ensuring that Opherin Primary School benefited from the ongoing distribution.
Other schools that benefited include Efe Primary School, Orogun with twenty chairs and desks; Uduere Primary School with thirty chairs and desks; Ofuoma Secondary School, Ofuoma with thirty chairs and desks and Eserophe Primary School, Otor-Igwreko, Ughelli with twenty chairs and desks.
All the respondents commended the Commission for the swift intervention in providing school furniture for their institutions and urged the Commission to continue her good work.
