Atiku Says Opposition Unity Is A Duty To Protect Nigeria’s Democracy

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the time has come for Nigeria’s opposition forces to unite in order to defend and sustain the country’s democracy.

In a Facebook post following the National Opposition Summit held in Ibadan, Oyo State, Atiku said opposition leaders spoke with one voice at the gathering, stressing the urgent need to build a united front bound by purpose and driven by what he described as a sacred duty to protect democracy.

According to him, forming a united opposition is not a matter of choice but an obligation owed to Nigeria and future generations.

He also expressed gratitude to the Chief Host of the summit, Governor Seyi Makinde, and the people of Oyo State for providing the platform where what he described as a historic resolve was rekindled.

Atiku noted that Oyo State has a long-standing history of being present at defining moments in Nigeria’s political development, adding that the summit marked another significant step in shaping the nation’s political future.
