Chief Ebizi Brown Mourns Late Vivian Ere, Celebrates Her Legacy Of Service

Member representing Sagbama Constituency 3 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Chief Mrs. Ebizi Ndiomu C. Brown, has paid glowing tribute to the late Hon. Vivian Ere, describing her as a political icon, visionary leader, and a pillar of women’s empowerment.

In a heartfelt condolence message, Brown said the news of Ere’s passing was received with deep sorrow, noting that many had hoped for her recovery before her demise.

She, however, expressed gratitude to God for what she described as “a worthy life, beautifully lived,” saying the late former lawmaker left behind an enduring legacy of strength, grace, and service.

According to her, Hon. Vivian Ere was a woman of remarkable beauty, vibrant spirit, and exceptional wisdom whose presence lit up every gathering and whose fairness and thoughtfulness endeared her to many.

Brown further praised Ere for her immense contributions to the growth, welfare, and empowerment of women, describing her as a trailblazer who made history as the first female State Legislator and an outstanding organizer in every responsibility she handled.

She noted that the late politician’s impact would continue to be felt for generations, adding that her life was one of purpose, excellence, and accomplishment.

She prayed for God’s comfort and strength for the family and all loved ones left behind, saying, “Rest on, Hon. Vivian Ere. Your legacy lives on.”

Hon. Ere was a prominent Bayelsa politician and one of the pioneering female lawmakers in the state.

She is widely recognized as the first female member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, serving in the First Assembly inaugurated in 1999 after Nigeria’s return to democratic rule.

Records of the first Assembly show she was the only female among the 24 lawmakers and served as Deputy Chief Whip.
