Delta Gets New Police Commissioner as IGP Disu Reshuffles Commands

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the deployment of new Commissioners of Police (CPs) to state commands and strategic formations across the country, with CP Samuel Erale appointed as the new Commissioner of Police for Delta State.

The deployment, which followed the approval of the Police Service Commission (PSC), is aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness, enhancing leadership across commands, and advancing ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the new state command appointments include CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo (Abia), CP Ayodeji Faniyan (Plateau), CP Saka Adewale Ajao (Bayelsa), CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue (Cross River), CP Nanna Oji Ama (Anambra), CP Patrick Daaor (Edo), CP Tani Murtala (Jigawa), and CP Samuel Erale (Delta).

The IGP also approved the deployment of several senior officers to strategic departments and formations at the Force Headquarters and other police institutions nationwide. These include appointments to the Force Intelligence Department (FID), Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Department of Training and Development (DTD), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Police Academy (POLAC), Police Staff College (PSC), and Anti-Human Trafficking units.

IGP Disu charged the newly deployed Commissioners of Police to leverage their experience in strengthening intelligence-led policing, improving operational effectiveness, promoting professionalism, and fostering stronger community engagement.

He urged the officers to remain committed to protecting lives and property while maintaining the highest standards of discipline, accountability, and service delivery.

The police chief reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to strategic personnel deployments as part of ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, building institutional capacity, and delivering more effective policing services across the country.
