The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Evance Ivwurie, has lost his re-election bid to represent the people of Ethiope East Local Government Area in the Delta State House of Assembly.

Results announced by the Returning Officer at Isiokolo showed that he got a total of 12, 039, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Chief Innocent Anidi, polled a total of 19, 724.

According to our sources, Ivwurie performed poorly in his hometown Abraka, where we gathered that he was booed at some polling units, where he tried to influence the voting decision of some of the electorates.

While the Agbon axis of Ethiope East recorded a peaceful poll, the same cannot be said of Abraka where pockets of violence where reported in some polling units in Ward 1 around campus 1 area.

Some of the voters we interviewed in Abraka said that Ivwurie after his victory in 2015 under the platform of the Labour Party, claimed that his money gave him the victory and so this time around they withdrew their support from him to teach him a lesson.

However, PDP faithful in the area believe that he deserves a second term with the achievements recorded under his tenure.

Attempts to speak with the winner proved abortive, but sources said that there is wild jubilation in his residence as supporters trooped into his residence to felicitate with him.
