The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, on Women Development, Chief (Dr.) Odet Emo (also known as Madam Bravo), has hosted the women’s wing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area, Delta State.
Also present at the auspicious occasion that took place at Bravo Event Centre, Abraka recently, were party leaders, Ward Chairmen and councilors from the area and some youth leaders from Ethiope East Local Government Area.
Addressing those present, the host said the event was organised to celebrate the Easter celebration with women in the party, who she said played a key role in making the re-election of Governor Okowa possible.
Continuing, she opined that it was important for her to come back to the women and thank them for working hard during the guber and State Houses of Assembly polls.
While urging them to keep faith in the party, she called on the women to be patient, adding that the Governor is aware of the sacrifices they made during the polls and will surely reciprocate their gestures.
High points of the programme were the presentation of bags of rice and money to widows and cash gifts to some women and youth leaders in the party.
Those present were also served sumptuous meals.
Speaking to journalists, Chief Odet said the occasion was to mark the festive season and celebrate the victory of Okowa.
She said: “Before the governorship election, I invited the women to this place and I told them how to go about the election and they did very well. Today, I appreciated them for the good job they did.”
According to her, she was appointed by the Governor very close to the election, saying that she was sure that her office will be empowered to carry out the demands on her to actualize her blueprint in upgrading the lives of women in the state.
She also hoped that in the second term of Okowa that she will get a bigger office to enable her touch the lives of more women greatly.
