Overah Will Be Missed For His Humility– Kingsley Otuaro
The Executive Governor of Delta State, Sen.(Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, represented by the Deputy Governor, Deacon Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, today, Monday, 22nd June, 2020, on behalf of the Delta State Government, visited the country home of Hon. Joyce Overah, to commiserate with the family over the tragic loss of one of Sapele most resourceful and exemplary politicians.
The Deputy Governor, was received by the Chairman of Sapele Local Government Council, Hon. (Chief) Eugene Inoaghan in company of Mr Ayemidejor Austine, Special Projects Director, Asaba International Airport, Hon.(Chief) Felix Uruemuesiri Anirah, member, representing Sapele State Constituency at the Delta State Assembly, Hon. Julius Egbedi, Commissioner for Agriculture, Comrade Benson Okorodudu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Peace Building, Hon. Perkins Umukoro, Chairman, PDP, Sapele Local Government Area, and others.
In his welcome address, Pastor Happy Overah, Happy Word, who spoke on behalf of the Overah family, thanked the Governor of Delta State, Sen.(Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, ably represented by the Deputy Governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, for the State condolence visit, and stated that the demise of their elder brother, father, and political icon is a huge loss not only to the Overahs but to Sapele and Delta State in general, and that however, they cannot question God for allowing their brother, Hon. OJ Overah to pass on at this time.
In his condolence message, Deacon Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, stated that he came on behalf of the Governor and people of Delta State, to condole, strengthen and to comfort the Overah family and pray that the Almighty God will grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
He also stated that the Delta State Government is seriously pained by the huge loss of Hon. O.J Overah.
The message reads in part, “Hon. O.J Overah was humility personified and was so resourceful to the State Government as well as being technical and tactical in his contributions towards the duties of Government.
The Delta State Government will do everything to be an integral part towards consummating the final burial rites.
He then prayed that the virtues and legacies that Hon. Overah lived for, would be sustained in his honour since he lived a life of service to God, the state and humanity.
Until his death, Hon. Joyce Overah, who was 59, was a one-time Education Secretary, Sapele Local Government Area, Member, House of Representatives, Commissioner for Science and Technology, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and the Commissioner representing Sapele, Ethiope West, and Okpe Local Government Areas on the Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, (DESOPADEC).
