Murdered Okpanam Vigilante Chairman Laid To Rest Amid Tears

The remains of the late Chairman, Okpanam Vigilante, Oshimili North Local Government Area, Mr. Emeka Nwaedozie popularly known as ‘Chosen’, who was murdered in cold blood together with his colleague, Festus Monyei in April 2020 in Okpanam by suspected Fulani herdsmen has been laid to rest amid tears and curses from his kinsmen and residents in the community.
A cross section of mourners who spoke on condition of anonymity described the late Emeka Nwaedozie as a gallant vigilante that sacrificed his life for the protection of the people from the rampaging herders and kidnappers in the area.
They however, called on the security agencies in the state to expedite action in fishing out the murderers of the chairman and one other members of their vigilante security outfit in order for them to face justice.
The respondents berated the Fulani herdsmen for terrorising several parts of the state, adding that apart from destroying farm crops, they carried out other hineous crimes such as killing of their innocent victims, kidnapping and most cases rape of women and had made it difficult for many farmers in different parts of the country to carry out their farming activities.
It would be recalled that the duo of Emeka Nwaedozie and Festus Monyei, also known were killed on their way to free a kidnapped woman in the community who was later freed few days after they had been ambushed and murdered by the suspected kidnappers/Fulani herdsmen.
