The gunmen who drove in a picnic car shot sporadically as they approached the police officers.

Two of the policemen who were on duty ran to safety, as the attackers carted away with two police rifles.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the incidence.

She said that the slain police officer was shot on the head, adding that the civilian was shot twice and died at the hospital.

Furthermore, she said the police lost a rifle and not two as claimed by our sources.
