DTSG Plans Easy Ownership Of Houses For Civil Servants, Others In Delta

Delta State Commissioner for Lands and Surveys, Barr. (Mrs) Kate Onianwa, has stated the readiness of the state government (DTSG) in assisting civil servants and other low income earners to own houses through a housing development scheme in the state.
The commissioner disclosed this in an interview with the newsmen at the House of Assembly Complex in Asaba, the state capital, after an interactive session with members of the House Committee on Lands and surveys.
Onianwa said that the essence of the housing scheme was to help civil servants and other low income earners in the state to own plots of land with ease.
She said that the governor of the state, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, would complete all ongoing projects in the state before 2023 in line with the Stronger Delta vision of the state government.
The commissioner also disclosed that land grabbing was no longer existing in the state and warned those inclined to collecting illegal levies at building sites, known as development levy, to desist from the unwholesome act, just as she advised the public to contact her ministry whenever they were asked to pay such illegal levies.
Earlier, during the interactive session with the House committee, the Chairman of the committee, Hon. Reuben Izeze, commended the commissioner and her team for ensuring that her ministry achieved its mandate and advised the commissioner to ensure the digitalisation of Land Bank, using Integrated Geographical Survey System for easy access and history of all lands in the state.
He also advised that public officers should work towards ensuring that people get the impact of government, adding that the ministry served as a trustee to the people on land matters.
Hon Izeze also advised that the ministry should ensure equity and fairness while allocating plots of land in the state.
