Warri Wolves Grind Out 3 – 1 Triumph Over Nnewi United
It was one of those rainy Saturdays one would be pleasant at the outcome of a Nigeria National League, NNL, Matchday 17 cracker against a resurgent Nnewi United team, as Warri Wolves braved the odds to beat the Ontisha clubside under the drizzling rain 3 – 1 on Saturday.
The rain made the playing synthetic surface very difficult for the two sides to play free flow football.
But this did not deter the Seasiders, as they scored within the opening five minutes of the encounter.

However, against the run of play, Nnewi United scored an unlikely equalizer.
The equalizer did not last long.

He skipped past his marker, but was hacked down.
A penalty was awarded to the Seasiders.

The early exchanges in the second half saw the two teams trying to boss possession under the drizzling rain.
The chances were far and in between.
In the 78 minute, substitute Damilare Babatunde cut in from the left and curled the ball narrowly wide.
A minute later, Archibong Philips laid a teasing pass for Babatunde, who hit the ball feebly wide.
In the 82nd minute, a Babatunde’s cross from the flank beat the goalkeeper but Tega failed to convert.
The Seasiders got the insurance goal seven minutes later.
Philips received a pass from the flank and skipped past the goalkeeper in a one on one situation and scored.
At the final whistle, Warri Wolves were pleasant to have a 3 – 1 win and three points.
