Commander, Operation Delta Hawk, Major, Mba Ocheje allegedly sent a threat message to Activist Israel Joe after he with the help of senior military officer retrieved monies extorted by the security outfit in the state.

Joe, in a Facebook post on Monday, added that on the 2nd of September, while he was away on a short conference/vacation, he received a call on how Operation Delta Hawk 008 accosted three young men in a vehicle, checked the papers of the vehicle and could not find anything incriminating, but went on to insist that the boys along with one of a comrade must bail themselves.

His post said: “When the comrade introduced himself and told them no crime has been committed to any regard, they asked the comrade to leave, while they took the other boys to two different ATMs which didn’t dispense cash until they ended up in a POS where 52,000 naira was extorted. Far back where I was, I called the attention of the commander (C.O.) 3 Battalion Nigeria Army Effurun who swung into action.

“It should be on record that the Nigeria Army does not tolerate such attitudes from its men. I had also called the Commander of Delta Hawk major Mba who told me they were on top the matter. I had simply told him that the money that was extorted should be refunded to the victims. We recover monies extorted almost everyday from security agents but for some reasons, I do not post such to social media anymore but this particular one has come with some threats.”

According to the said post, the Major clearly told the comrade who he sent along with the victims to get back his money that “Israel Joe would know himself and they will soon deal with him”.

He continued: “I will not take such threat lightly as we are preparing a petition to the Defense Headquarters to call Major Mba the commander of Delta Hawk to order, as any money extorted from anyone would be refunded.

“I was attacked by the same military on the 21st of October, 2020 during our #EndSARS protest and was badly wounded. I got admitted due to the brutality from the Nigerian Army. The then Sector Commander Lt. Col. Ahmed had used his discretion to resolve the issue paying our hospital bills and other logistics to play down on the issue but on this threat we won’t take it lightly. You can’t threaten me for doing what is right,” he said.
