Alia Speaks On Fuel Subsidy Palliatives, Appeals To Benue People To Be Patient
The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia has appealed to Benue people to be patient with the System for the distribution of fuel subsidy palliatives to Nigerians.
The Governor made the appeal Tuesday, July 25, 2023 while speaking at the 2023 National Convention/Mega Reunion of St.James Minor Seminary Old Boys’ Association (SAJSOBA) held at the school premises along Yandev-Makurdi road.
Governor Alia explained that the oil subsidy was meant to cushion Nigerians but for some reasons it became hijacked, and a few highly placed Nigerians took advantage of it leaving the common man to suffer.

According to the Governor, it became quite difficult that the nation was borrowing money to subsidize her oil for the common man.
He said committees have been formed and are discussing at various levels but at the end of it all, the federal government will come up with a policy statement on how the cushioning will be.
Governor Hyacinth Alia finally invited the people to speak to their constituencies to be patient with the system, saying it is deeper and more involving than what they hear and read on pages of newspapers, adding that if the calibrations are not calculative enough, it’s so easy for the system to get it wrong.
