61 Soldiers, 32 Civilians Killed In EIGS Attack In Chatoumane, Niger Republic

A devastating attack by elements of the Islamic State in the Great Sahara (EIGS) has resulted in the deaths of at least 61 members of the Nigerien security forces and 32 civilians in Chatoumane, located approximately 14 kilometers from Téra in the Tillabéri region.
The assault occurred on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, as terrorists surrounded a local market and opened fire indiscriminately.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the attack unfolded rapidly, with the EIGS militants targeting both security personnel and civilians in a coordinated assault.

The preliminary report indicates a significant toll, with 61 soldiers and 32 civilians confirmed dead. The bodies of the victims have been transported to the hospital in Terra for identification and further processing.
