DELSU Holds 11th Valedictory Lecture, As VC Extols Prof. Nwachukwu’s Honest, Impactful Service

Vice Chancellor of Delta State University (DELSU), Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, has commended Professor Augustine Emeka Nwachukwu for his honest and impactful service to the University.
Professor Asagba made this commendation at the 11th in the Series of Valedictory Lectures which held on Tuesday, 9th December, 2025, at 750 Lecture Theatre A of the University.
Professor Asagba noted that the brilliance with which he delivered his lecture clearly affirmed him as a quintessential teacher and scholar.
He further opined revealed that his observations and findings about the character of Professor Nwachukwu showed that he was loved by colleagues and students alike.
He concluded that Professor Nwachukwu was an asset to the academic world and congratulated him for his nearly three decades of distinguished service to DELSU.
In his valedictory lecture titled: “The Role of Health and Safety Education in the Broad Field of Medicine: My Professional Packaging and Input in the Line of Duty,” Professor Augustine Emeka Nwachukwu, a Professor of Health and Safety Education, argued that the ultimate goal of both Health and Safety Education as well as Medical Education, is the attainment of perfect health for humanity.

He explained that this shared objective is pursued through various branches of medicine including preventive medicine, curative medicine, promotive medicine and rehabilitative medicine.
The Professor of Health and Safety Education further maintained that within the broad field of medicine, both the medical profession and the health and safety profession play complementary roles in advancing human well-being.
He concluded by recommending closer cooperation between the two fields, particularly in the exchange of valuable information that would enhance the work of professionals in both disciplines.
The 11th valedictory lecture featured other highlights such as a special musical rendition by the Music Department and photo sessions of the valedictory lecturer with principal officers of the university as well as with family and friends. A reception was later held at the same venue.
Dignitaries present at the valedictory lecture included the Vice Chancellor of DELSU, Prof Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba; Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Edmund Aviedo Atakpo, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Hilary Ijeoma Owamah, Provost of Oleh Campus, Professor Austine Atonuje, Registrar of the University, Mrs Rufina Ufuoma Ufiofio represented by Mr Emma Okoro, the University Bursar, Mrs Otimeyin Ekakitie-Omajuwa represented by Mr Joel Ojigbo-Ijatomi,, the University Librarian, Dr Josephine Eruterio Onohwakpor, Provosts, Deans, Directors, staff and students of the university. Also in attendance were members of the Nwachukwu family and friends of the valedictory lecturer.
