Police Intensify Rescue Efforts As Delta CP Visits Sapele Over Abducted Council Boss

The Nigeria Police Force has stepped up efforts to secure the release of the abducted chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, Delta State, following an on-the-spot assessment by the Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi.

Oyeniyi visited Sapele on Saturday in a coordinated response to the incident, inspecting key locations linked to the abduction in a bid to strengthen ongoing rescue operations.

During the visit, the police chief assessed the scene of the crime at Debro Fred Guest House, where the council chairman was kidnapped.

He also proceeded to Ogorode Waterside, where the vehicle reportedly used by the abductors was recovered, aiding ongoing intelligence and forensic investigations.

In a show of support, the CP met with the wife of the abducted chairman, assuring the family of the command’s commitment to securing his safe and unharmed release.

He also visited victims injured during the attack who are currently receiving treatment in hospital.

The police commissioner said the command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has deployed adequate resources and is working with credible intelligence to track down the perpetrators and rescue the victim.

He urged residents of Sapele and across Delta State to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely and useful information, stressing that public cooperation is crucial to the success of the operation.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, has conducted a comprehensive operational visit to Sapele following the abduction of the Local Government Chairman, reinforcing the Command’s determination to secure his safe and unharmed release.

The visit formed part of a coordinated response to the incident, with the CP personally assessing critical locations connected to the crime. He inspected Debro Fred Guest House, where the abduction occurred, to obtain first-hand situational clarity. He also visited Ogorode Waterside, where the vehicle reportedly used in the operation was recovered, providing further direction for intelligence exploitation and forensic follow-up.

In a solemn engagement, the CP visited the wife of the abducted LGA Chairman, conveying empathy and assuring the family that the command is doing everything necessary to ensure his safe return. He also visited the hospitals where some of the injured victims during the attack were receiving treatment.

The CP emphasised that the command, in synergy with other security agencies, has deployed adequate resources and is working on credible information to track down the perpetrators and rescue the victim unhurt. He urged residents of Sapele and the wider Delta State community to remain vigilant and cooperate with police by providing credible and timely information.
