Law Firm Petitions Delta CP Over Alleged Assault Of Two Women By Warri-Based Lawyer

A law firm, Uduobowhe Chambers, based in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, has petitioned the Uvwie Area Command in Ekpan and copied the Delta State Commissioner of Police over the alleged assault and maltreatment of two women by a Warri-based lawyer.

In the petition, the firm alleged that the women, Miss Ighorhiowhunu Okiemute Blessed and Miss Chukwu Mariam Ngozi, were assaulted, battered, and had their property damaged after allegedly rejecting advances from the lawyer, Mr. Presley Okojie.

According to the petition, the incident occurred on May 29, 2026, when the two women visited Metro Lounge, located at Water Resources, Warri, at about 7:00 p.m. to relax. The petition stated that Mr. Okojie arrived at the lounge around 10:00 p.m., approached their table, requested Miss Ighorhiowhunu’s phone number, and later danced with her.

Part of the petition reads: “While dancing, Mr. Presley Okojie was allegedly touching Miss Ighorhiowhunu inappropriately and asking what it would cost to spend the night with her. Disturbed by his conduct, she took her friend, Miss Chukwu, to the restroom and informed her that they would leave after finishing their food and drinks.

“As they returned from the restroom, Mr. Okojie noticed that Miss Ighorhiowhunu’s mood had changed and shifted his attention to Miss Chukwu, requesting her phone number. When she declined, stating that her friend had already given him her contact, he allegedly grabbed her phone, causing it to fall to the ground and become damaged.

“After damaging Miss Chukwu’s phone, she demanded that he repair it, but he refused. The women then reported the matter to the lounge manager, who allegedly declined to intervene. When they insisted that Mr. Okojie should take responsibility for the damaged phone, he allegedly attacked them, leaving them with bruises on different parts of their bodies.”

When contacted, the Uvwie Area Commander, ACP Aliyu Shaba, confirmed the incident and stated that the matter had been charged to court after efforts to resolve it amicably between the parties failed.

At the time of filing this report, the matter had already been charged to court.

However, Mr. Presley Okojie has denied the allegations against him, claiming that he was, in fact, the victim of the incident. According to him, he was assaulted, robbed of some personal belongings, prevented from accessing his vehicle, and suffered varying degrees of injuries during the altercation.
