Adjogbe Applauds FG Commitment To Reviving Nigeria’s Economy
A former Executive Director (Projects) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Dr. Samuel Adjogbe, FNSE, has applauded the Federal Government for its renewed commitment to reviving Nigeria’s industrial sector and rebuilding the productive capacity of the economy.
Adjogbe said the recent agreement to revive and fully operationalise the former Delta Steel Company Limited in Ovwian-Aladja, Delta State, is another clear indication that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is determined to reposition Nigeria for sustainable economic growth and industrial development.
The Federal Government recently signed an agreement with Premium Steel and Mines Limited (PSML) for the rehabilitation and modernisation of the Delta Steel plant, with the company committing more than $1.3 billion to the project. The initiative is expected to restore the plant’s production capacity, create about 5,000 direct and more than 20,000 indirect jobs, and strengthen Nigeria’s domestic steel industry.
Reacting to the development, Adjogbe said the revival of Delta Steel Company Limited is particularly significant because of its potential to stimulate industrialisation, create employment, strengthen local manufacturing and reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported steel products.
According to him, the development demonstrates that the difficult economic reforms being undertaken by the Tinubu administration are being complemented by practical efforts to unlock dormant industrial assets and attract private-sector investment.
“President Tinubu has demonstrated the courage to take difficult decisions in the interest of the long-term future of Nigeria. We are now seeing concrete efforts to revive industries, attract investment and unlock the productive capacity of the country. Nigeria is gradually moving from consumptive to productive economy.
“With a little more patience and sustained commitment, I believe the Federal Government will position the Nigerian economy among the strongest and most competitive economies in the world.”

Adjogbe noted that the Delta Steel revival goes beyond Ovwian-Aladja, stressing that its successful implementation could stimulate a wider industrial value chain involving iron ore mining, rail transportation, maritime logistics, manufacturing and other businesses.
He said the planned reactivation of the National Iron Ore Mining Company (NIOMCO), development of the Ajabanoko iron ore deposits and increased utilisation of the Delta Steel Company jetty would further strengthen the economic impact of the project.
The APC chieftain urged the Federal Government to sustain its focus on infrastructure, electricity, agriculture, health-care, manufacturing, oil and gas, education and human capital development, arguing that these sectors are essential to building a productive and self-reliant economy.
He also called on Nigerians to remain patient and supportive of genuine economic reforms while urging government at all levels to ensure that the benefits of economic recovery are translated into improved living conditions, employment opportunities and greater prosperity for citizens.
Adjogbe stressed that the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda must ultimately be measured by the transformation of Nigeria’s productive capacity and the improvement of the quality of life of its people.
He said the Federal Government’s renewed commitment to the steel industry provides another reason for optimism, adding that Nigeria possesses enormous human and material resources capable of supporting rapid economic transformation if properly harnessed.
“Let us continue to support policies and programmes of government that will rebuild our economy. The journey may be difficult, but with patience, consistency, responsible leadership and collective support, Nigeria will emerge stronger.
“The revival of Delta Steel Company is not just about bringing an old plant back to life. It is about restoring confidence in Nigeria’s industrial future, creating opportunities for our young people and laying the foundation for a more prosperous nation,” Adjogbe said.
